PLANNING SESSION FOR AKOFE EX-CO
- Planning session and workshop was conducted in mid June
- Annual program for Ex-Co was finalized
- Prepared the detail action plan and Formulated sub committees
- Assignd individual tasks
- Special lecture on leadership and project management was delivered by Mr Samantha Rajapaksha(CEO/MD, Associated Motorways) D.R.R and Ex-Co members participated
LAUNCH OF CONCESSIONARY HEALTH SCHEME
- Special discount scheme for AKOFE members with Nawaloka Hospital
- Launched in September with participation of R.R, D.R.R of Koica, Nawaloka officials and Ex-co members
- Number of beneficiaries over 800 AKOFE members
- Benefits to members
- 20% discount for room charges
- Special discounts for lab-testing, X-rays and other hospital services
- Free ambulance services
- Consultation appointments on priority basis
- Very successful scheme and number of members so far received benefits
SCHOOL PROJECT 01
- School : Kalaynee Vidyalaya – Dehiovita
- Only main school in the area for secondary education
- Project conducted in August
- Most of the students were from very poor families and recipients of “Samurdhi”
- Donated items: Computers, lab equipment, library books, sports goods, dancing and musical goods
- D.R.R of KOICA, Members of Ex-Co and staff of KOICA participated in the event
SCHOOL PROJECT 02
- School : Kirikohutenna Kanishta Vidyalaya –Dehiovita
- Project conducted in August
- Primary school with least basic facilities
- Remote area with students from lowest income families
- Donated items: Desk and chairs for one classroom, cupboards, library books, mathematical and science equipment, and musical equipment
- Also shoes were donated to 100 children, recommended by the school
- D.R.R of KOICA, Memebrs of Ex-Co and staff of KOICA participated in the event
DONATION OF WATER PURIFICATION SYSTEMS
- Water purification systems were installed in 3 schools in Polonnaruwa district (Vijitha College, Palugasdamana MV, Hingurakdamana MV)
Background
- Limited access to pure drinking water
- Students were highly prune to kidney diseases
- Major cause for kidney failure was daily intake of polluted water
Project deliverables
- Under the project, over 1,500 students benefited
- 05 Units of Reverse Osmosis (R.O) Filters were installed in three schools including provision of storage tanks and plumbing
Benefits of RO systems
- Removal of unhealthy particulars from water i.e; viruses, bacteria, algae and protozoan parasites
- Removal of dissolved organic material from water i.e, naturally produced organics and man-made contaminants

KOICA-AKOFE FRIENDSHIP NIGHT
- Main event conducted by AKOFE for the membership each year
- Conducted on 10th December 2014
- Purpose is to create a forum to interact, socialize, and bring about closer contacts and fellowship among members
- Participation 200 including Members, VIPs, Media, Korean Gvt Agencies, and senior public servants
- Entire event was organizes by Ex-Co with no extra costs for management
