The KOICA Alumni Association in Sri Lanka which is named as the Association of KOICA Fellows in Sri Lanka (AKOFE) was formed on 21st July 1999 under the patronage of KOICA, and the Alumni mainly comprises of present and past senior officials in the State Sector who are the recipients of KOICA training opportunities. The main objectives of AKOFE among others are to provide a forum to promote a spirit of fellowship among its members and to foster cultural ties between the two countries .

The Korea International Corporation Agency (KOICA) was founded as a government agency on April 1, 1991, to implement the grant aid and technical cooperation programs in the context of Korea's Official Development Assistance (ODA) for partner developing countries. Under such assistance program, KOICA has endeavored to share Korea's development experiences in the fields such as public health, education, agriculture and rural development, ICT and governance, and industry and energy with the countries.

AKOFE was founded on July 21, 1999 as an association of ex participants who have been to Korea for their participation in fellowship and scholarships programs under KOICA's technical cooperation program. AKOFE has embarked on important activities that have provided the Sri Lankans and Koreans to come together in building closer ties for mutual understanding and cooperation and friendly relations. I am proud to mention that AKOFE is gaining momentum to be and active player in the development effort of Sri Lanka. The increase of membership and the implementation efforts of its ambitious activity plan for this year are expected to bring together the untapped potential of the expertise gained in Korea for effective contribution towards national development...

It gives me great pleasure to send this message to be published in our web page as the President of AKOFE. The membership of Association of KOICA Fellows in Sri Lanka (AKOFE) mainly consists of senior public servants who have undergone training in their respective fields, in South Korea through scholarships granted by the Korean Government. This was formed 15 years ago with the main objectives of effectively utilizing the knowledge and skills gained in Korea for nation building efforts of Sri Lanka, promoting friendly relations between the two countries and serving the less privileged.
